CARE International’s #March4Women saw over 10,000 women, girls, men,boys and people of all genders come together on Sunday 4 March as part of the global movement for gender equality and in celebration for International Women’s Day.
The crowd marched from the Houses of Parliament, finishing in Trafalgar Square where they enjoyed a two hour rally hosted by Sue Perkins and a fantastic line-up of music acts, speakers and actors including Mayor of London, Sadiq Khan, Michael Sheen, Biffy Clyro, Anne-Marie Duff, Sophie Ellis Bextor and a beautiful finale from the Urban Voices Choir. The event was the biggest #March4Women to date, trending at the top of the chart in Twitter in London and the Top 10 in the UK as well as a tweet from the Prime Minister. It was covered by all major news platforms with over 1,000 pieces of press coverage including the BBC, Sky News, Guardian, Metro and Independent as well as a media partnership with Stylist magazine.
